The IQAC of MET Institute of Pharmacy hosted a seminar on ‘Safety and First Aid’ on Wednesday, 7th September 2022. The seminar had lectures by distinguished speakers from academia and industry.
Dr. Prakash Vaidya, Professor, Chemical Engineering Department at the Institute of Chemical Technology gave an overview of safety in the chemical industry. He explained the concepts of safety with classic historical examples of Bhopal gas tragedy and the changes happening now in the industry.
Dr. Rajesh Advani, M.B.B.S, MRMC, a family physician conducted a workshop on first aid measures not just in the laboratory set-up but also in life. This workshop helped everyone to take basic measures in cases of medical emergencies. He taught everyone use of a band-aid, treating burns, complicated procedures of CPR and Heimlich maneuver.
Dr. Aditya Pattani associated with KCIL, NanoXpert and 3Impactome foundation talked about the ‘People Aspects in Safety’. He interacted with the audience with a quiz on safety and discussed on MSDS, HAZOP and how we should inculcate an attitude towards safety.
The seminar proved to be useful to ensure safety not only in the chemical laboratories and industry but also our lives.
