On October 11, 2024, the DLLE and Green Club of MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree) organized a knowledge-sharing seminar in collaboration with United Way Mumbai, titled “SHORE WALK.” The event focused on educating participants about coastal biodiversity and waste management. The seminar kicked off with Mr. Shubham Nikam, a consultant, United Way, who engaged students through a Google form, asking thought-provoking questions about coastal pollution and its effects on marine life.
He discussed the rich marine biodiversity of Mumbai, which has been severely impacted by plastic and non-biodegradable waste. Mr. Nikam also shed light on the sources of ocean pollution and its harmful consequences on marine ecosystems, while emphasizing the importance of waste segregation and the challenges posed by plastic waste in recycling.
He encouraged participants to take part in beach clean-up activities to raise awareness and contribute to preserving coastal ecosystems.
