On January 24, 2025, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) B-Ward, in collaboration with MET Institute of Management’s Sustainability Club, organized a Deep Cleaning Initiative at Sandhurst Road and surrounding areas. Aimed at promoting cleanliness, sustainable waste management, and active community participation, the initiative saw the involvement of over 50 MET students and 100 BMC personnel. Equipped with advanced machinery such as high-pressure water jets, garbage compactors, and mechanical sweeping machines, the collaborative effort revitalized public spaces and fostered environmental awareness.
The event featured a poster rally from Sandhurst Road to Sitaram Shenoy Garden, spreading messages on sustainability and cleanliness. MET students performed impactful street plays on topics like ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (RRR)’ and ‘Air Pollution’ to highlight waste reduction and pollution control measures. The team also undertook deep cleaning activities, road washing, and a tree plantation drive, reinforcing efforts toward environmental conservation and sustainability.
The initiative was led by MET IOM faculty members Dr. Nirmal Joshi, Ms. Dharmishta Gala, Mr. Sandesh Akre, and Ms. Arzoo Jaiswal, with significant support from senior BMC officials, including Mr. Nikhil Kirtane (AE-SWM), Mr. Kiran Awad (SE-SWM), Mr. Santosh Sawant (AHS-SWM), Mr. Raju Bulbule (Sup-SWM), Mr. Ashish Puradkar (Asst. ND-SWM), and Mr. Kishor Gohil (Asst. ND-SWM). Their leadership and coordination ensured the success of this initiative, marking a meaningful step toward a cleaner and greener Mumbai.
