The Green Victory

TERI awards MET Rishikul Vidyalaya

22nd July, 2014 was the much awaited day for MRVites as their hard work would be recognized in form of an award.
TERI - The Energy and Resource Institute – conducted its Initiation Workshop of Phase–VI of Project SEARCH at the MRV. The workshop was intended to brief the participating schools of their roles and responsibilities towards environment. The workshop was attended by thirty member schools, almost 160 students and more than 30 coordinators.

MRV Principal, Kavita Sanghvi, an avid green citizen and educationist, welcomed the gathering and apprised the members of steps taken during Ganapati festival’13 to spread awareness of green practices. She graciously offered to share the script of MRV’s street play and the plan of action that made MRV the Second Best Performing School in Mumbai under the project SEARCH - Sensitization, Education and Awareness on Recycling for a Cleaner Habitat.

SEARCH, launched five years ago, is a prestigious ongoing programme of TERI. It seeks to create awareness among Mumbaikers towards recycling and cleaner habitats. One can appreciate the fact that road to MRV’s achievements was not easy, but determination and dedication sure led them to the victory.

Yet MET Rishikul Vidyalaya persisted and insisted on making painting our earth ‘Green’. Therefore, TERI, in recognition of MRV’s strength, tenacity and dedication to all that is environment friendly approach, selected three students - Ananya Narke (Grade VI), Parth Lele (Grade VI), Paraj Shah (Grade VII) – as TERI Ambassadors to spread the good word. These MRVians were the winners of a video making competition on the topic “Products made out of Tetra Pak cartons”.

At the same event, another MRVian of Grade IX, Kabeer Mehta, had a rare honour of sharing his experience of STEP- a TERI leadership programme organized in Goa, which he claimed changed his perspective of himself. He will be representing MRV in August ’14 at a leadership programme by TERI.

Furthermore, Ms. Sapna Tiwari was selected as the City Searcher to be a member of consortium of best performing teachers from our Mega City. Mr. Pankaj Bhujbal, Trustee, MET felicitated the winners and achievers. Three Cheers to our students and teachers whose efforts have led MRV to the Green Victory.
