MET - UN ECOSOC Internship Programme

Paperless Committee Project

Mission:

'To help implement the Paperless Committee Project through voluntary internship of MET students and faculty so as to install and operate the electronic record management system, thereby facilitate NGO DESA to deploy web enabled systems for remote access to NGOs world wide.'

Highlights :

32 MET interns contributed voluntary input of about 16000 man hours, successfully developing and implementing a unique programme - Paperless Committee, at the NGO DESA, UN ECOSOC.

Primarily known as an electronic meeting system, the Paperless Committee serves as an integrated system for record management, digital archiving, document retrieval, integrated decision making and a web enabled remote access for beneficiaries worldwide.

Hewlett Packard Corporation provided the necessary hardware and wireless connectivity, while World Job and Food Bank and an NGO from Canada contributed the other important equipments.

The Paperless Committee not only enabled faster handling of NGO database, information & social programmes and NGO appraisals, but also resulted into tremendous cost savings.

Linkage to the Innovation Fair :

Since the NGOs working all over the world need close networking and sharing of experiences for attainment of MDGs, the system installed by NGO DESA, UN ECOSOC, New York has facilitated real time access, appraisal and coordination network for mutual benefit.
