New Age Organizations lead by producing continuous innovation. The power to innovate is the power to differentiate and stay ahead of the curve. The corporate world is also looking for highly creative change agents who are able to apply new ideas or implement old ideas in a new way to generate solutions and approaches.
We at MET Institute of Management believe that every management student should be taught that 'innovation' is an effective way to meet new requirements, unarticulated needs and existing market needs. To build this managerial competency the MMS students at MET undertook an innovative project based on Human Centered Design Thinking. HCDT is empathetic, collaborative, optimistic and experimental. The projects were ideated, mentored and evaluated by Dr. Farida Virani, Professor - HR & Behavioural Science.
Students brainstormed on innovative ideas, conducted surveys with the relevant stakeholders to empathize and created a prototype of their brilliant ideas. Some of the impressive ideas are: a new age bike helmet, a house in a room, a new age bus stop for smart cities, an eco-friendly sachet to replace the existing plastic ones in, an ergonomic flexi cart to help construction site workers etc. Many of these business ideas have the potential to be commercialized and scaled.
