YORK ST JOHN UNIVERSITY

A Public University - has a proud history of widening access and participation in higher education. It was founded as a Teacher Training College in 1841 by the Church of England “as the most powerful means of remedying the existing defects in the education both of the poor and middle classes of society”. It achieved university status in 2006.In 2018/19, there were 6,620 students, reading a wide variety of subjects, in nine Schools. Around 100+ degree course options are available to students at foundation, undergraduate and Post graduate level, including business management, marketing, tourism, mathematics, computer science, history, music, music production, art, design, geography, theatre, drama, dance, sport related programmes, theology and primary education.
