VIDYA-SETU : Knowledge Bridge for Societal Bonding 150 Social Outreach Missions conceptualized by MET, India

Mission : 'To link students and the academia with proactive facilitators engaged in attainment of MDGs including NGOs, so as to reach out to the underprivileged, sharing knowledge through soft skills, counselling and networking to build an inclusive civil society.'

Highlights : Vidya-Setu, a program aimed at mobilizing college youth in achieving missions based of MDGs, was launched to commemorate 150 years of Mumbai University in the presence of Hon. President of India - Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, in July 2006.

Over half-a-million university students are to invest 3/4 man-hours every week to reach out to the underprivileged in the vicinity - almost 2 million man-hours potential to work for MDGs attainment in Mumbai alone.

Pilot Project launched by MET with 600 students networking with 1800 families in poverty alleviation and health care - receiving credits in their studies.

Vidya-Shakti :- a unique job opportunity fair, based on careers sans barriers brought together the corporate houses and the jobless youth in the city on a unique platform at the job fair, with positive results and bonding.

Linkage to the Innovation Fair : Vidya Setu and Vidya Shakti are unique innovations that are aimed at revolutionizing the spread of MDGs through involvement of youth as missionaries for upliftment of the poorest of the poor, thus harnessing the power of youth for societal changes.
