MET’s intra-collegiate annual event
15 institutes, 4000 students, 500 faculty & staff celebrated MET's Annual Day Festivities

The most awaited event of the year MET Utsav ’14 kick-started with a bang. The annual cultural fest, which commenced on 7th February saw a plethora of events lined up for all METizens. On the inaugural day there was a terrific performance by young skaters of the MET Rishikul Vidyalaya, who wowed the audience with their twists, turns and left them speechless. A variety of workshops were held within the institute thereafter. METizens were exposed to an exhilarating dance fitness sensation at the zumba fitness workshop. The self-defense workshop taught women various techniques to counter an attack. Participants were surprised with the truth about their past and what awaits them in the future in the face-reading workshop. The chocolate making workshop was a treat to those who have a sweet tooth. Likewise METizens were seen having fun and learning new skills at the gift-wrapping, mind empowering, personal grooming, making effective presentations, photography, cloud computing, warli painting, stress management and paper quilling workshops.

The MET Annual Sports meet on the second day brought with it new challenges, new winners and loads of fun and frolic for all. Based on the theme of ball, METizens truly set the ball rolling. They were in action, sweating it out on the field, vying for victory in cricket, football, lagori, dodgeball, volleyball, throwball, lawn tennis, table tennis and basketball At the end of the day, individual champions and winning teams were rewarded with certificates.

The three day MET Utsav ‘14 celebrations concluded with the grand finale on 9th February. The stage showcased power-packed performances in dance, music, drama, fashion show and more. The age of the participants ranged from 4 years to 60 years. The MET Gaurav, MET Bhushan and MET Pragnyavant awards were bestowed upon METizens during the week long celebrations. A Talent Hunt competition in music, singing, mimicry and compering was held on 3rd February. On the grand finale, winners of the competition engaged the audience with their scintillating performances in singing and mimicry. Shri Chhagan Bhujbal, Founder Chairman, MET conferred the MET Ratna award on distinguished METizens. The icing on the cake was the fashion show, wherein MET students set the ramp on fire in their exclusive outfits festooned with ornaments and high heel stilettos. MET also intended to promote the social cause of save and recycle paper with the theme ‘Recycle Today, Save Tomorrow.’ Based on the theme, young MRV students presented a remarkable paper fashion show, wherein they walked the ramp in outfits made of recyclable newspapers. The hosts instantaneously connected with the audience with their hilarious jokes and one-liners. Metizens truly brought their cultural talent to the fore with the overwhelming devotional performances and folk dances. The eye-catching aerial acts by MET students also left the audience spell-bound. The highlight of the programme was when musical sensation Shaan enthralled the audience with his singing, which left the audience cheering and wanting more. Renowned marathi singer Vaishali Samant also graced the event and delighted the audience with her melodious voice. Bollywood actor Sharman Joshi took to the stage and shared a few words with the excited audience.

This is one time of the year when the staff, students, faculty, admin, technical and non-academic staff rejoice together on a single platform devoid of all hierarchies. MET Utsav’ 14 was indeed a multi-dimensional event, which kept the spirits of the audience alive and left everyone with wonderful memories to cherish for lifetime.
