MET Tops the MBA World
INSIGHTS into the Unparallel Victory

Over the past 25 years, The Marketing Conclave of IIM, Ahmedabad - INSIGHT has earned a great deal of repute and respect to establish itself as the defining marketing conclave that brings corporates, B-school students, academia and consumers together to promote marketing and market research.

Team of MET MMS students - Janki Mehta, Jonathan Pereira, Shahzad Mirajkar and Rachayeeta Mokashi participated in the Flagship Event, Wizards of Barter - the first of its kind marketing strategy event. There were two rounds, and for the first round participants had to analyse two international ads - the Toyota Corolla Ad and the Volkswagen Passat commercial and had to give their opinion as to which product has a better chance of succeeding in Indian context. They also had to share a write-up of not more than 300 words. The event saw a massive participation of approximately 400 entries for this event and out of this, 6 qualifying entries, i.e. ISB, MET, IIM-A, IIM-B, TAPMI and Welingkar, were invited for the on-campus round. Participants were shared a case study of a new product launch, two days prior to the actual event and students were required to develop a marketing strategy for this launch. On first day, 6 teams presented their strategies and 2 teams were eliminated and remaining 4 teams i.e. MET, ISB, IIM-A, TAPMI moved to second day.

For the next stage participants had to imagine that 6 months have passed and all the teams' strategies are out in the open. Now redesigning tactics to counter the opponents' moves was required, within a stipulated time. The final decision of the judge was based on the team's performance on both Day 1 and Day 2. There was a tie for the Runner-up title between MET and IIM-A. The judge gave a tie-breaker question and both the teams had to separately share their views about a hypothetical case.

Finally, MET managed to beat the crème de la crème of India and secured the coveted title of Runner-up at the prestigious event and prize worth Rs. 25,000. The event also provided them an opportunity to interact and network with some very talented students of the other top B-Schools. Overall, it was an enterprising and a very stimulating experience for the entire team that brought back the honour.

It was a great learning for the MET team who outshined and topped the MBA world, many renowned B-School were defeated, just to prove once again the might of the sharp mind. Congratulations to the MET team!
