METamorphosis 2016


METamorphosis - the grand media fest, an initiative of MET Institute of Mass Media (MET IMM), aims to provide aspiring media professionals a platform to showcase their talent and capabilities. The theme this year was – INTERRUPT. DISRUPT. ERUPT.

With 10 diverse events, METamorphosis offered Mumbai's mass media students a real taste of the professional world. The festival saw students across 50 colleges registering for various events. Preparations started two months prior. Right from conceptualizing the fest, designing the décor, branding, planning the events, bringing in the sponsors, inviting the celebrities and all the integrities of Event Management were taken care of by the PG in Mass Media students. The four day event started on 4th December 2016 with the Sports day with Rink football game – 'FUTSAL' and a media game 'The Chamber Quest'. The inauguration ceremony witnessed the legendary personality Mr. Javed Akhtar who delivered an inspiring talk covering right from the roots of the communication industry to its future. He gave very insightful practicalities for organizing an event from client perspective and also recited few of his best lyrics which had a mesmerizing impact on the audience. The inauguration ceremony concluded with the re-launch of the student tabloid 'Friday' by Ms. Fiona Fernandez, Features Editor, Mid-day along with the special children from ADAPT (NGO). MET also announced the launch of its Web Radio – 'MET ki Awaaz'. The event was graced by the famous Indian author and former investigative journalist Mr. Hussain Zaidi and RJ Mantra from Red FM 93.5.

METamorphosis 2016 witnessed events and workshops covering mediums from Films to Photography to Advertising and more. The Digital Marketing workshop by Mr. Subhobroto Chakraborty, Chief Digital Officer at thedigitalfellow.com left the participants with a newer perspective to the business. Participants of the 'Radio Jingle Making Workshop' were fascinated by the knowledge shared by renowned Indian film composer, record producer, jazz musician-keyboardist and singer - Louiz Banks and Gino Banks and Vinay Mandke who guided them to make a jingle within the 4 hour workshop. One highlight of Metamorphosis 2016 was Marathi Shrushti, the inspiring regional talk show by eminent personalities from the Marathi Film fraternity – Mr. Shashank Ketkar (Engineer /Actor), Dr. Neha Rajpal (Singer/ Producer), Mr. Sarang Sathaye (Director/Actor/Writer), Dr. Swapna Patker (Doctor/ Producer/ Writer) and Mr. Santosh Pawar (Actor/ Writer).

The Grand Finale on 7th December 2016 witnessed the long awaited awards ceremony. Talents like Hiten Paintal and Hrishitaa Bhatt from the upcoming film - 30 Minutes, TV Actor - Mr. Karan Khanna and Actress - motivational speaker, Ms. Pushtee Shiv Shakti also graced the event with their presence. The students from Atman Academy performed a mind blowing Mime Act. The young performers with learning disabilities were in the age group between 5 to 14 years and received a standing ovation from the audience. A special performance by the Guinness World Record holder Mr. Shashikant Khanvilkar, who created music by blowing into a simple comb and bus ticket, stunned the students. The essence of the finale reached its peak with fantastic performances by MET mass media students that marked the end of the grand METamorphosis 2016.
